Family of Anton Yelchin Sues Fiat for Wrongful Death
The family of Anton Yelchin has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, claiming the actor’s death resulted from a defect in the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Yelchin, who starred in multiple Star Trek films, died on June 19 after his Grand Cherokee rolled backwards and pinned him between a brick pillar and a security fence. Fiat recalled the vehicle due to a malfunction with the gear shifter that allows the car to move while the gear is in the parked position. Unfortunately, the recall was not mailed to Yelchin until seven days after his death. Shortly after Yelchin passed away, Jeep owners filed a class action lawsuit against the carmaker.
