What Damages Can I Claim in a Personal Injury Case?
The damages recoverable in a personal injury case depend, of course, most importantly on what damages did you actually suffer. But it includes medical expenses, it can include wage loss, and those can both be past and future because, many times, an injury is one that’s going to require a lifetime of medical care, or future surgeries, or it may involve those things and/or losing wages in the future, as well as what’s been lost already.
In addition to that, there are the human, non-economic parts of an injury claim: the pain, the suffering, the anxiety, the humiliation – all of the things together that matter to us, that we lose the pleasures of life in the way that we were used to before because our injury prevents us from doing the things that we enjoy. Maybe we can still work, but we can’t work at the job that we chose, and we love. All of those things are recoverable in a personal injury claim if they’re real, and if those injuries were somebody else’s fault.
