Congratulations Julieta Hernandez on Being Selected as the 2019 Civil Justice Scholarship Winner!
Plattner Verderame, P.C. is proud to announce that Julieta Hernandez, a student at UCLA School of Law, has been selected as the 2019 recipient of our annual Civil Justice Scholarship! Ms. Hernandez is expected to graduate in 2022.
The Plattner Verderame Civil Justice Scholarship awards $2500 to a student who is interested in any aspect of civil or social justice, to help shoulder the financial burdens of college and support the student in pursuing his or her dreams. Ms. Hernandez, who earned her undergraduate degree from California State University, Long Beach in Political Science and Chicano Latino Studies, as well as a Certificate in Legal Studies, was the ideal candidate this year.
She is not only an incredibly smart and articulate young woman, having won the Exceptional Student Achievement Award in 2016, but she is also leading by example. Ms. Hernandez was the Co-President of the Chicano Latino Studies Student Association, took on a judicial apprenticeship, and served as the Captain of the CSULB Moot Court Team, where she took 2nd place in the American Moot Court Association’s Upper Midwest Regional competition. She also worked as a Supplemental Instruction Leader at the CSLUB Learning Assistance Center and at the LA Galaxy Academy as a Learning Coach, before becoming a Legal Assistant at a law firm in California.
