Our lawyer referral services – information and answers to commonly asked questions

Plattner Verderame, P.C. works with many law firms in Phoenix, across Arizona, and throughout the country to fight for the strongest results possible for personal injury clients. We handle a broad range of personal injury claims from all types of vehicle accidents to product liability claims, birth injuries, nursing home abuse and neglect, and premises liability actions.

We handle all types of serious injuries, including traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord damage and paralysis, traumatic amputation, burn injuries, internal organ damage, and all types of bone breaks and fractures. We also represent families in wrongful death cases.

We understand that referring clients to another lawyer requires trust. You need to trust that the lawyer you recommend to your client is ethical, that they have the experience and resources to protect your client’s rights and present the strongest case possible, and that they’ll treat your client like they’d treat a member of their family. You have the right to trust that the law firm handling your client’s case has the experience and resources to investigate your client’s accident case, conduct a thorough discovery, work with expert witnesses including physicians, negotiate with insurance companies, and persuasively argue a case before a jury.

Plattner Verderame, P.C. is a firm you can trust. We’ve been fighting for personal injury clients in Phoenix and the rest of Arizona since 1991. Our lawyers have obtained several 20 million-dollar-plus settlements and verdicts and numerous seven-figure results. Our partners have earned distinguished certifications from the Arizona Bar Association as Board Certified Specialists in Personal Injury and Wrongful Death Litigation.

Why do other lawyers refer personal injury cases to our law firm?

Our personal injury team works with general practitioners, personal injury lawyers, general counsel, and lawyers who work in non-personal injury practice areas. Some of the reasons these lawyers refer personal injury cases to us include that the referring lawyer:

  • Doesn’t have the experience or resources to handle personal injury cases.
  • Doesn’t practice in Arizona.
  • Doesn’t have the professional network to properly represent clients with catastrophic or serious injuries.
  • Has a conflict of interest.
  • Is too busy to handle a particular case.
  • Is not experienced at trying cases before juries.

At Plattner Verderame, P.C., we’re ready to handle personal injury cases from the moment we and your client reach an agreement that our firm should represent the client. We’re respected by former clients, insurance companies, defense lawyers, and the Phoenix and Arizona legal communities for our dedication to our clients and our record of success in and out of court.

What are your referral arrangement terms?

Our lawyers will prepare a contingency fee agreement with your client that sets forth how much we receive if the client’s case settles or there is a favorable verdict on behalf of your client.

We also prepare a written letter setting forth the terms of any settlement or verdict proceeds that will be paid to the referring lawyer. The letter will set forth the percentage amount your firm will receive and any other financial arrangements, such as reimbursement of costs and expenses the referring lawyer advanced. The percentage may vary depending on the complexity of the case, how much work you’ve already done on the case, and other factors.

Many lawyers refer personal injury cases after their initial consultation with their client. We handle cases from our initial interview to settlement discussions, trials, and appeals. Our lawyers also handle cases when lawyers handle a good portion of their client’s case and they need an experienced trial lawyer to finish the case.

How much work will I have to do as the referring lawyer?

In most personal injury cases, the referring lawyer does no or little work. The arrangement can be changed, however, if the referring lawyer wants to take a more active role in their client’s case. We encourage referring lawyers to ask questions and participate as they think the case requires. You can rest assured that your client is in good hands. We have decades of experience. We’ll calmly and clearly guide your client through each phase of the litigation process.

Where is your office located?

Our Phoenix office is located at 316 E Flower St. We also have an office in Tempe located 5500 S. Lakeshore Dr. We do make alternate arrangements to meet ill and immobile clients away from the office when necessary.
